Meet JP MacFadyen, New Executive Director

Last week, JP MacFadyen succeeded Elizabeth “EB” Brooks as Executive Director. Brooks will transition into a new role as Founder and will help guide the Park throughout its opening and into its first operational year.
Prior to joining Moncus Park over two years ago as Operations Director, MacFadyen worked as an Operations Engineer at NASA, a Supply Chain Consultant and Project Manager to various Fortune 500 companies, as well as owning and operating a local business, Great Harvest Bread Co.
“I appreciate both EB and the board’s confidence in me, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to serve the community. With the opening of Moncus Park approaching, I’m excited to take on this challenge of transitioning from building the Park to operating it as an accessible and cultural resource for our community,” MacFadyen said. “I’m especially grateful to EB for her guidance. Her efforts over the last 15 years have been instrumental in getting Moncus Park to the place it is today.”
We’re so grateful for EB’s leadership thus far and look forward to the future with JP as our new Executive Director.

Volunteer at the Park!

Interested in helping out at Moncus Park?
Join us Thursday, September 23 from 8:30-11:30!

Activities include, but are not limited to:

Spreading mulch
Weeding flower beds
Picking up litter

Volunteers will work in groups and have the opportunity to view the park’s progress!

We also are looking for event support! If you’re interested in lending a hand at Moncus Park events, let us know! We need all the help we can get to keep these 100 acres thriving! Click the link below to learn more.

As of now, we have approximately 200 boards left in our Treehouse Boardwalk. Once we sell out of these boards, there will be no remaining customizable boards in Moncus Park.
If you would like to “leave a mark in the park,” be sure to purchase your board before we run out! You can purchase your board in the boardwalk by clicking the link below.
*We will still have bricks available in the Veterans Memorial. They will be installed in 2022.

Seeking Community Partners

We know that an active and programmed park plays a vital role in a connected community.
That’s why Events Director, Heather Twichell, is on the search for interested partners for 2022 programming. Moncus Park community programs will focus on Arts & Culture, Health & Wellness, and Environmental Education. If you or your company would like to be a part of Moncus Park programming, please fill out the form below.

Seat wall deadline approaching!

Construction on the IBERIABANK, First Horizon Amphitheater has begun. This 3,000+ person open-air stage and event lawn will host many different types of events throughout the year. Everything from live music, movies in the park, live theater, dance performances, private events, and even exercise classes are all possible on this new stage!
Fun fact: It’s also hurricane proof! The Amphitheater’s foundation is equipped with four 12-foot long pylons cemented into the ground making it able to sustain hurricane force winds.
